60 Second Preparedness LifeHack – Make your car a contact in your phone

Most mobile devices today have a feature to include notes for each of the contacts in your phone. This feature can be used as an extremely useful mobile reference tool if you ever need quick access to information about your vehicle. This could be a huge time saver if you have to file an insurance claim after an accident or in countless other situations.

Give your vehicle a name. Not something silly, a real name; first and last. Something you’ll remember

Add this name to the contacts in your phone. (You don’t have to assign it a phone number)

In the notes section of your new contact and enter the following information:

Your vehicle’s vin number
Insurance policy number
Date of your last oil change and the type of oil used
Date of last vehicle inspection
License plate number
Drivers license number
Headlight and taillight bulb part number
Wiper blade part number

Have a suggestion for this list? Please leave it below in the comments!

I’m sorry, but I can’t agree with putting your license plate number, your insurance policy, and your drivers license number in your cell phone. Especially if you don’t assign a phone # to it. That just smacks of asking for trouble IMHO.

Depends on the security of your phone. Modern smartphones that have all the security features enabled will prevent 99.9999% of all unauthorized attempts to break into your phone. I would also suggest anyone with a smartphone download an app that can locate and wipe the phone clean in the case of theft.
